Our project is to favour quality craft workshops to offer personalised products or services, adapt designs, finishes and materials to our clients' tastes and constraints. All our designs reflect the French art of living through manufacturing methods, traditional assembly and the use of fine materials: solid oak, solid beech, leather, cotton-linen, etc.

Club chair in leather or fabric adapted to the contemporary lifestyle

The club chair, originally in leather, is a model of resilience to pass through time. Created over a century ago, the club chair has crossed history with sovereignty and discretion. Initially reserved for gentlemen's clubs or the European upper middle class, the club chair is considered a break from period armchairs. More opulent, more comfortable, the club chair is considered a more masculine living room chair, conducive to cigars and other chats over a glass of brandy. La Maison Saulaie maintains this period lounge atmosphere with the edition and reedition of traditional models while offering renewed designs (brown, black, white, red).

The dimensions of the backrest have been notably revised downwards to avoid cutting off the perspective of an apartment. An armchair with a natural aged leather that can be personalised

Whether it is of contemporary or vintage design, the club chair offered by La Maison Saulaie meets a manufacturing method focused on strict criteria. Designed in a traditional assembly (mortise and tenon joints, solid wood frame - solid beech or rubberwood), the vintage or modern style club chair is a model of high-end craftsmanship. For example, leather club chairs are available in full-grain cowhide or buffalo leather. These leathers are known for their quality, being both supple and thick, they give the club its original comfort. Upholstered in foam and completed with goose down covers, the cushions combine the comfortable aspect that we look for in an armchair and the aspect of support for the back. The shade of the leather itself is a traditional manufacturing shade called aniline. Aniline leather is obtained through artisanal methods that respect the leather, the natural material and the effects of the animal's life on it. Thus, La Maison Saulaie does not plane or dip its leathers in chemical baths to obtain perfectly uniform or standardised hides. The hand-applied dye does not cover the impacts of time on the animal's skin and thus gives this aged effect, so sought after by our customers.

One of the special features of the comfortable living room club chair offered by La Maison Saulaie is the number of leather colours available. Obviously, the brown leather club chair is a timeless must-have, but La Maison, keen to adapt to the different styles of its clientele, offers four shades of brown leather: deep brown, vintage brown, light brown or cognac brown. The leather club chair has been famous since the time of the French clubs of the early 20th century, for its rounded shape of which the moustache club chair or the piece of furniture called "gendarme's hat" are quite emblematic. La Maison Saulaie perpetuates this tradition of the comfortable club chair by offering the chair in many variations and styles. We find the classic, essential Chesterfield armchair, but also more modern and contemporary armchairs with an Art Nouveau Art Deco, Scandinavian design. They can be alternately in fabric (beige colour) or in leather (vintage brown, beige or brown colour), they are all made of solid wood with a foam seat under the leather or fabric. Their manufacture follows a traditional line: if a leather stitching point breaks, all the other points will remain. These armchairs are the fruit of know-how and a technique of irreproachable quality! We have adopted a refined line for these Scandinavian armchairs in order to make them more elegant, more tapered, lighter and thus easier to move, despite the solid wood used for their manufacture. Practicality is therefore not neglected in this range of luxury armchairs. These Scandinavian-inspired armchairs are less imposing than traditional club chairs, and can easily slip into your home without taking up too much living space.

Chesterfield club chair

Among the emblematic models of timeless living room club chairs, the Chesterfield armchair is a model of timeless elegance. Available in full-grain leather in an aged style with a saddle stitch, the Chesterfield armchair or sofa is a buttoned sofa with comfortable padding. Great care is taken in its manufacture, since it is a master upholsterer specialising in Chesterfield who takes care of the buttoning of the armchair. Also, the buttons of this type of armchair are sewn with large needles, before being firmly fixed to the solid wood frame of the armchair or sofa. It is available in several shades of brown, the flagship colour, as well as other colours.
