In the 17th century, the Dutch and the English began to import rattan into France. This is the beginning of the long history of the straight caned chair, with or without armrests. Maison Saulaie offers you identical reproductions of Louis XV and Louis XVI style caned chairs.

Exceptionally made, the antique wooden chairs are manufactured using traditional methods. In solid resistant wood, they are composed of pegs, tenons and mortises, as well as a hand-woven caning according to ancestral tradition, with natural vegetable fibres. The wax finishes are particularly neat.
